Once heralded as “the icebox of the nation,” Fraser, Colorado hasn’t gotten any warmer, the town simply lost a trademark battle with another town in Minnesota that won the rights to use the dubious honor. Just a few miles from Winter Park ski resort, Fraser is the more affordable location, attracting hundreds of year-round local residents and second homeowners.
One of the top attractions in Fraser is the new, multi-million dollar recreation center that includes: a lazy river pool, a three-story water slide, state-of-the-art exercise equipment, and a running track. Other longstanding Fraser draws are: rodeos every Saturday night in the summer, fishing on the Fraser River, tubing on the two lighted hills near the railroad tracks, and mountain biking on the hundreds of miles of trails that wind through and around Fraser.
